Episode Synopsis
Watching a holographic message of Rev Bem saying goodbye to the crew, Harper is thoroughly distressed, as Rev Bem was his only hope of ridding his stomach of Magog eggs. Doubled over in pain, Harper becomes unconscious. Trance examines him, discovering that the Magog eggs will hatch in less than one week. It is decided they must seek out the expert scientific minds of the Sinti, specifically Technical Director Hohne.
Later, Hohne and his assistant, Rekeeb, board the Andromeda. Harper reveals his plan to get rid of the Magog eggs by using a machine to fold space and time. Harper's life could be put in danger by this tactic, but he feels he has nothing to lose. Contemplating the dangers of Harper's plan, Captain Dylan Hunt sees a flash and is suddenly alone. He turns to glimpse two of the original Andromeda crewmembers. He follows them, but is confronted with another flash and lands in the next corridor. Andromeda demands to know how he got from Deck Nine to Deck Nineteen in a matter of seconds. Disoriented, Dylan can offer no explanation.
Meanwhile, Hohne and Rekeeb are hard at work on Harper's machine. Suddenly, Tyr appears out of a field of shimmering blue energy. Puzzled, Hohne goes to the door Tyr just walked through and opens it into space. As the alarms sound, Dylan and Rommie are troubled as the location of the hull breach is fifty meters from an outside door. Suddenly, they see a blue flash and are back where they started. All over the Andromeda, crewmembers are thrown into distorted space and time situations. While a killer robot from a past battle attacks Trance, Tyr successfully closes the door to space in the machine shop. Dylan and Rommie run to meet the rest of the crew. Together, they desperately seek answers.
Dylan realizes that perhaps the machine they are building is distorting space and time. Unfortunately, Hohne has programmed robots to begin the assembly process, so they must reach the machine shop in time to stop them from finishing. Harper, Tyr, Hohne and Rekeeb start toward the machine shop, but blue flashes constantly displace them. Meanwhile, battles and crewmembers from the past are appearing on Andromeda.
As Hohne, Harper and Rekeeb are searching, Hohne suddenly falls into the slipstream core. Harper jumps to save him, but Hohne loses his grip, falling to his death. Meanwhile, as Beka battles Kalderans from the future, she sees a future Beka who has obviously been through hard times. Nearby, Trance also sees a future version of herself. She looks older, more sophisticated and more dangerous. Future Trance informs Beka and Present Trance that the future is grim. Present Trance suddenly announces that she must go. With a kiss for Beka, she is gone and Future Trance remains. Confused, Beka demands an explanation. Future Trance refuses, but lets her know that she is there to help handle this crisis so the world can be better in the future.
Harper and Rekeeb are still searching when they see Future Trance and Beka. After Future Trance explains that she is still the same person, she leads them directly to the machine shop. They arrive to find Dylan and Rommie entering from the other side. Harper tells everyone about Hohne's death. After a quick explanation from Future Trance, Dylan asks her how they can change what has happened. Future Trance admits that by destroying the machine everything will be set back as it was. Harper demands they destroy the machine and kill him to restore Hohne. Trance suddenly leaps over and activates the machine. Six baby Magog larvae appear in a containment field over the machine and then are gone. Harper passes out. When the crew questions her actions, Future Trance confesses she doesn't know if it will benefit the future, but she needed to save her best friend.
