Episode Synopsis
Gerentex, Tyr and their band of mercenaries continue their mission to take over the Andromeda Ascendant and kill Dylan. Dylan narrowly escapes a barrage of bullets and grenades when Tyr enters Command Center firing. Tyr is a Nietzschean mercenary whose Pride was destroyed in a clan war and is trying to prove his worth through battle. Infuriated by Dylan's escape, Gerentex orders a full force attack, starting with Andromeda's Command Center.
Trance Gemini and two mercenaries set out to search the ship for Dylan, who gears up for battle by arming himself. When the four meet, Dylan knocks out the two mercenaries but Trance manages to escape. Beka breaks into the ammunition closet, where she comes face to face with Dylan. He has taken everything from the closet and rigged a bomb that gives him just enough time to deter Beka but not harm her. Knowing that Dylan has the upper hand, Trance suggests to Gerentex that they abort the mission and leave Dylan alone. Gerentex kills Trance in front of the other mercenaries. Although she has no pulse, Dylan takes her to the medical deck.
When Harper, Rev Bem and Beka see how heartless and cruel Gerentex really is, they begin to devise a plan to get back at him for Trance's death. Back at the Command Center, Dylan uses a hologram of himself to divert Tyr, while the real Dylan attacks. Dylan and Tyr have a short one-on-one battle. Meanwhile, having successfully hacked into the computer system, Harper turns himself into a computer virus and infects Andromeda. He does this in order to gain revenge on Gerentex.
Andromeda manifests herself in the form of a giant being and kicks Harper, as the virus, out of her system. Knowing any efforts are futile, Gerentex orders Harper to prepare the Eureka Maru for launch and leaves everyone else behind on the Andromeda. Once in space, Gerentex instructs Harper to push the Andromeda directly back into the black hole. If he can't have the ship, no one else will.
Back on the Andromeda, Dylan pleads with those remaining. They must work together if they want to escape the black hole and live. Much to their surprise, they are joined by Trance who has fully recovered. Dylan familiarizes everyone with Andromeda's capabilities, including an astonishing amount of firepower and combat weaponry. It becomes clear that Gerentex knew exactly what he was doing when he ordered an attack on Andromeda. By launching the ship's firepower all at once at the base of the hole, the black hole becomes a white hole. The energy emitted from the hole gives the Andromeda enough of a boost to coast safely out of danger.
Out of harm's way, Beka notices that Harper has intentionally left a trail of pion particles that will lead them to Gerentex. Anxious to retrieve her ship, Dylan agrees to help Beka, but with an unknown stipulation. They attack the ship, but Gerentex tries to persuade Tyr to join him again -- Tyr refuses. Gerentex is placed in a life pod, where he will have a few months solitary time in space to ponder his actions. Back on Andromeda, Dylan asks everyone to meet him at the observation deck. He tells them of his plan to restore the now fallen Commonwealth, and to return justice, unity and law to civilization. He offers them a home on Andromeda, and asks them to join them in his crusade.
